Tracking the Stream

We dropped the first of two surface current drifters yesterday about 2200h. These drifters use GPS to measure their location two times a day and ‘phone home’ via satellite communications to report their position.  You can track our drifter progress here.

In its first 12 hours the first drifter traveled over 25 nmi at more than 2 knots!
