A day on board the Thomas G. Thompson means being fluid and flexible with all your plans…including laundry day. Laundry days are assigned based on your state room number. Sunday is assigned to our room (#32) along with 4 other rooms. We have been looking forward to laundry day since a bout of seasickness hit Chau hard. Since that day a few items of clothing were very very gross, to put it simply. This morning we had planned to wake up, watch the sunrise, join the rest of the boat for breakfast and then get a start on our laundry. After we caught a glimpse of a whale during the sunrise, we sat down with our plates for breakfast. As were enjoying the steak and eggs the amazing cooks have prepared, the captain writes on the message board “Laundry secured until further notice”. “Scott!”, we call the engineer over as soon as he walks by. He informed us of a pitstop we were making in San Francisco, and because of that, they can’t pump sewage within a certain distance of the shore. Luckily, laundry was just delayed until the late afternoon. We’re overjoyed to report, that we were the first state room of the day to get our laundry in the wash! Being a shared space, we’ve been very on top of switching it over to the dryer, unlike we are at our own homes. We’re excited to be getting ready for bed with clean warm clothes for the night!
