Just a quick update, we had deployed Dr. Hintz’s drifter around 2100-2200 h and now cruising on the Gulf Stream just passing Miami, Florida. I was able to see the city lights from the deck and also some lighting in the distance. The water is still a clear blue which blows my mind. Growing up going to the Jersey Shore, the blue water is a nice treat. So far all is quiet and is a smooth sailing. The sampling is going well, it is a little difficult on a ship to use the microscope; so we are excited to take it back into the lab on land to see what else we can find. Unfortunately, I have not been able to keep steady sea legs the sea sickness comes in waves. Fingers crossed for a smooth weekend!
