Today I woke up to the sound of ocean waves. I started my day off with a cup of coffee. Afterwards, I went down to the main lab to meet with the team. We looked over planktons through microscopes. The idea of plankton making up seawater is mind blowing to me. Can you imagine not showering after a beach day? You’d end up with tiny organisms like pteropods on you!
Later, we had a meeting regarding the Vibracoring project that will begin shortly. Although we won’t be as hands-on with this project, I’m still excited for the process to start. I’m so mad I’m going to miss out on those archeological artifacts, as the Vibracore team won’t be opening up their cores until they are back in San Diego. Luckily, the professor of Oregon State encouraged me to contact him to find out the further details. The rest of my day consisted of endless conversations, lots of laughs, and egg rolls. Delicious! I snuck three more when no one was looking. The cook later caught me and mentioned I didn’t have to. He likes when people comes back for seconds. What a great day!
