Hi there! This is William, reporting from our last day on the STEMSEAS Narragansett to St. Petersburg expedition. We’ve had a ton of fun over the past week, seeing everything from dolphins playing in the froth of our ship to distant rocket launches to the best stargazing Earth has to offer, and have learned just as much as we’ve gotten to see. The memories we made on the R/V Endeavor will stick around for a lifetime, because for many of us this is the first time being on a ship at sea – for others, it may be the beginning of some great maritime careers. Beyond just the one-of-a-kind opportunity we’ve been given by being on the Endeavor, we’ve also been very fortunate to have spent our week at sea with some of the best crew UNOLS has to offer, most notably those such as Captain Chris, ABs Zoe and Derek, Engineers Ron and Olivia, and our favorite – Chef Rick. We also owe a ton of gratitude to our marine technicians, Marshall and Bea, who served as liaisons between the crew and the science team, answering countless questions of ours and without whom we could not have been here. Wherever we’re going and wherever we’re ending up, I’m sure I can speak for all of us when I say that our time on board the Endeavor will be something none of us ever forget.
