by Receiving the opportunity to be a participant on this STEMSEAS cruise has made me feel nothing but grateful. My immediate answer was yes, of course, but after a few hours the only thought I had in mind was “it’s going to be my first time on a boat”. I thought I would’ve been horribly sick the first night on the boat but I was surprisingly wrong. If it’s going to be your first time at sea, remember that getting sea sick is completely normal. My first time at sea has been amazing, and the crew on the R/V Hugh Sharp have been so kind to all of us. I know that I’m going to miss being at sea when school starts back in August.
