Hey everyone!
It’s Kayla again here to tell you all about our fourth day aboard R/V Sikuliaq! Many insightful presentations took place throughout the day revolving around Active Directory, Group Policy, Cyber Risk Management Program (CRMP), and the Ocean Observatories Initiative (OOI). The range of these essential topics revealed the role cybersecurity plays at sea, along with how technology is useful, even hundreds of meters underwater! The more the days pass, the more I am shocked by how talented every individual on this vessel is. It’s truly a privilege to be able to learn from them as well as being at sea.
After working in the lab for some time, everyone decided to switch settings and take some headshots with the gorgeous ocean in the background. The sun was shining, waves were rolling, and wind was blowing (the perfect combination if you ask me!)
Closing off the night, I decided to take one last look at the sky before heading to bed. I was amazed at the full and bright moon that shined along the calm dark waves. One of the engineers on board I was chatting with mentioned that on a full moon, you’ll see less stars. I was still impressed by the amount I had seen when I looked up, as they are a rare sight for me back at home.
Until next time,
Kayla 😀
