Today, March 23, 2025, marks the final day of our sea expedition. We began the morning by tidying up our rooms and preparing for disembarkation. At 9:30, everyone gathered at the bow for a group photo. Despite the chilly weather, everyone was in high spirits, excited to capture the moment.
Around 10:30, our ship began to dock, which was a fascinating experience for many of us who were witnessing a large vessel docking for the first time. Watching the precise maneuvering required to bring the ship into port was truly remarkable.
Since there were no scheduled scientific presentations or group activities today, we had some free time to explore the surrounding area after we docked. We broke into smaller groups and took the opportunity to wander around and experience the peaceful and charming atmosphere of Woods Hole. The town had a serene and relaxed vibe, with people leisurely enjoying their weekend.
At 5:00 PM, we gathered at Leeside Pub for a farewell dinner. It was a joyful and friendly atmosphere, as everyone shared their experiences from the expedition and reflected on the journey we had just completed. The laughter and camaraderie made it clear that we had all formed strong bonds over the course of this incredible adventure.
The STEMSEAS cruise has been an unforgettable experience, offering us hands-on research opportunities, valuable interactions with experienced scientists, and moments of personal growth. As we part ways, we carry with us not only the knowledge we’ve gained but also friendships and memories that will undoubtedly inspire us and our students for years to come.
